The New Year is here and season is ready to pounce. We’ve had some cool days, but nothing to compare with our friends to the north – Brrrrr! We did fire up our outdoor heaters on a couple of occasions, but most of our guests thought they were in a tropical heat wave after traveling from sub-zero temperatures.
My niece Leslie Lehr spent a few days with us at the start of the Key West Literary Festival and her newest book, “What A Mother Knows” has just launched. Our guests, visitors and locals were treated to a reading on the front porch with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. She signed books and we now have them in our little gift shop. The Curry Mansion is featured in the mystery novel.
The photo shoot is done and decorations will be going up shortly for our biggest event of the year – the 31st Wesley House Valentines Party. Every February 14th since 1983, the mansion is transformed into a colossal Victorian Valentine. The event, which I have been privileged to serve as Honorary Chair, is their signature fundraiser that makes it possible to promote and enhance the safety, wellbeing and development of children through educating, supporting and meeting the needs of families.
If you haven’t already made plans to visit us this season, we hope you will soon. We look forward to welcoming you back to Amsterdam’s Curry Mansion Inn.
